Gujarat HC closes rape case against former BJP MLA

The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday accepted the plea of former BJP MLA Jayanti Bhanushali to close the rape case filed against him by a 21-year-old woman.

The relief came from the court following the BJP leader reached a settlement with the complainant. On August 3, the court had ordered the police to verify if the complainant was under any kind of pressure or threats, granted the acceptance after the police submitted its report.

Bhanushali who resigned as Gujarat BJP vice-president after an FIR was registered by the Surat-based girl against him alleging sexual exploitation.
