CM pays courtesy call to Rajnath, LS Speaker

The meeting of Chief Minister Raman Singh with Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday is seen a crucial meeting after success of the operation of security forces in Left Wing Extremist affected area in Chhattisgarh.

Chief Minister had held talks with union home minister for more than an hour, mainly revolving around the Naxal issues along with other political scenario in state.

Sources said that Union Home minister sought details of the anti-naxal operations being undertaken in the state along with developmental works in LWE areas, its progress and works regarding connectivity. State is going for massive connectivity in the LWE area by installing mobile towers including laying of optical cables along with distribution of smart-phones to the residents. It is reported that Chief Minister briefed him on the success achieved on the anti-naxal operations being undertaken in monsoon season and proposed for expediting it.

On Monday, based on the specific inputs of presence of large number of naxalites camping in the Errabore region of Sukma district, a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG), STF and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had encircled the Naxal base camp, closing all the escape routes. This encounter led to killing of 15 Naxalites while two, including a woman were arrested alive.

Chief Minister paid a courtesy call to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Tuesday. On the occasion, Chhattisgarh Lok Sabha members Abhishek Singh, Vikram Usendi, Kamla Devi Patle, Dr Banshilal Mahto and former MP Pradeep Gandhi were present.

Chief Minister had called on BJP party president Amit Shah on Monday late evening. Though the political sources said that it was just a courtesy call but discussion on the upcoming election and preparations of state party is said to have taken place. Amit Shah is expected to visit Chhattisgarh in last week of August.
