Curtorim: Goa Velha SC entered the semifinals of Wilred Leisure Soccer Cup football tournament defeating Ugem Rising Club 6-4 via the tie breaker played at Curtorim grounds on Tuesday. The teams played a 2-2 draw during the regulation time. Goa Velha SC will now meet Don Bosco Oratory in the semifinals.

St Anthony’s SC enter quarters

CALANGUTE: St Anthony’s SC Marna-Siolim registered a 6-4 win over United Sports Club Mardol to advance to the quarters of Late Anthony & Santana Carvalho Memorial football cup organised by St Savio’s Sports Club and played at Calangute Grounds on Tuesday. In the 19th minute, St Anthony’s took lead through Siddanth Shirodkar as he was assisted by Sherwin Lobo. On crossing over, USC Mardol equalised in the 40th minute through penalty scored by Julio Godinho. St Anthony’s took lead once again, through Gaurav Vaigankar’s header. But five minutes later, Mardol equalised through Wayne Rodrigues. St Anthony’s won the tie breaker 4-2.

St Xavier’s, Purushottam HSS win U-19 chess tourney

MAPUSA: In the Interzone U-19 chess competition for boys and girls held at Peddem Sports Complex, St Xaviers Higher Secondary School, Mapusa boys won the U-17 tournament. In the girls category, Purushottam Walawalkar Higher Secondary School, Mapusa were the winners.
