Portrait honour for APJ, Lal Bahadur Shashtri in Assembly on Aug 10

The Delhi Government will honour former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shashtri by putting up their portraits in the Assembly hall on August 10. An announcement in this regard was made by the Speaker Ram Niwas Goel on Tuesday in Delhi Assembly.

The event will be organised at Delhi Vidhan Sabha and families of Kalam and Shastri have been invited be part of the ceremony. “Apart from families, common people, senior officers from other states and Delhi including Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA's) will participate in the party,” said Goel.

Earlier, in 2016, Delhi Government opened a memorial to honor Dr Kalam at INA near Dilli Haat which is now open for the public with notes, books, clothes and other personal items of the former president of India.

Articles, notes and other things related to Dr Kalam and Lal Bahadur Shastri will be displayed in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha. Lal Bahadur Shastri was the second Prime Minister of India and a senior leader of Indian National Congress.
