CHANDIGARH: The police have arrested three persons for carrying out snatchings on a
Honda Activa scooter and
stealing two-wheelers.
Pawan Kumar, DSP, crime branch, said the accused have been identified as Paras, Honey, and Vikram Singh, all residents of Sector 29. Cops got a tip-off that Honey was roaming in Sector 31 with an intention to commit a snatching on Saturday. Police put up a naka and arrested him. He led the cops to the other two accused. On their disclosure, police recovered two Honda Activa scooters, two motorcycles, two snatched mobile phones and a purse.
Police claimed their arrest has solved three snatching and four auto theft cases. Police said the gang operated in sectors 3, 26, 31, 39, Maloya, Manimajra and Mauli Jagran. The DSP said the accused snatched two mobile phones on a white colour scooter and once used a black colour Activa. Cops said all the three accused are drug addicts. They carried out snatchings to fulfil their drug habit, cops said.
Police said Paras was earlier arrested in a case under an NDPS Act, while Vikram and Honey had been booked in an assault case in the past. After their two-day police remanded ended, a court on Tuesday sent the accused in judicial custody for 14 days.
