‘Make in Odisha’ a flop show’

The BJP on Tuesday alleged that the ‘Make in Odisha’ is nothing but an initiative of self-propagation of the State Government.

“The State Government has already spent crores of rupees in holding road shows for inviting industries. But the people have not got any fruit out of it. During the last 19 years, the State has lagged behind in establishment of industries. Make in Odisha is a flop show and meant for building the image of the State Government,” alleged BJP State secretary Lekhashree Samantsinghar at a Press meet here.

Samantsinghar said the State Government’s claim of success in ‘ease of doing business’ is baseless as the rank of Odisha in the World Bank is going down each year. “While Odisha is ranked at 7  in the country, the approval rating of the investors for Odisha is only 39 per cent,” said Samantsinghar.

She said out of 92 MoUs signed between 2004 and 2008, only 46 have set up industries only for mineral resources.

Samantsinghar too alleged that the State Government has failed to run public sector undertaking operating under it during the last 19 years. While 28 PSUs have been locked, 15 PSUs are suffering Rs 500 every year, she said.

She said the State Government has failed to generate adequate electricity, which is essential for establihsmnet of industries. The claim of power surplice State is baseless as power transmission loss still stands at 32 per cent. She said all households in the State have not yet been provided electricity though the BJD had promised to provide electricity to each household in its election manifest.
