With public support, we have nothing to fear: Kaluva

Information and Public Relations Minister and TDP Polit Bureau member Kaluva Srinivasulu has asserted that his party is not keen on entering into any alliance with other parties in the State in the 2019 elections.

“The TDP will go to the polls on its own strength and popular support. We are not looking for any alliances,” he said while addressing the ‘Meet-the- Press’ organised by the A.P. Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ).

The Minister was replying to a question on whether Jana Sena Party (JSP) president Pawan Kalyan would sail with the TDP in the elections.

The TDP had public support, notwithstanding the criticism and wild allegations by the opposition parties, he asserted.

Criticising the BJP and the JSP, the Minister said, “The single source of information for them to criticise and level allegations against the government is a vernacular newspaper and a channel. Leaders of the BJP and the JSP are parroting only what is reported in that newspaper and channel.”

The TDP never criticised without any reason. It was unfortunate that the opposition parties were making baseless allegations and creating hurdles in the development of State, the Minister said.

The TDP had never resorted to taking revenge against the political opponents. As many as 56 party activists or leaders, including Paritala Ravindra, had been killed when Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was the Chief Minister, he said.

The TDP, after coming to power in 2014, did not retaliate against its political opponents. Law and order was paramount to the government, he said.

Houses for scribes

Referring to the housing scheme for the journalists, Mr. Srinivasulu said the government was committed to the cause. “The Chief Minister will launch a website in this regard soon. Journalists can enrol their names for housing in the website. The enrolment is primarily meant for non-Amaravati journalists,” he said, adding it might take some time for allotment of land to the Amaravati Journalists’ Society.
