JALANDHAR: Even as a local resident impersonating as personal assistant to deputy commissioner was caught by the police but after hearing his tale of troubles DC Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Parveen Sinha let him off with a warning and gave him a chance to reform.

Local resident, Tarunjit Singh had been calling the people by impersonating as the PA of the DC seeking some favours including financial aid for a patient. However as a couple of persons brought the matter into the notice of the DC, latter requested the Commissioner of Police to enquire the matter. Latter then entrusted the job to CIA Staff head Ajay Singh who traced the person.

During the investigation the person confessed that he had been impersonating as the PA of the DC because his wife was seriously ill. He told DC Charma and CP Sinha that his wife was having chronic kidney failure since year 2000 due to which he was facing acute economic crisis. His wife needed dialysis two times a week and he had lost job due to this cause. He said that such was the situation that he had not been able to pay the fee of his daughter who was studying in a local school. Tarunjit also submitted a written apology to both the officers and promised not to repeat this mistake.

The DC and CP then asked the Police officers to verify the details narrated by Tarunjit. After it was established that the facts revealed by him were true and his economic situation was really miserable both the officers took a considerate view towards him and keeping in view his poor economic condition and ill health of his wife, didn’t initiate any legal action against him. They even helped him by getting the fee of his daughter waived off from the school management. However, both the officers warned him that he would be under strict surveillance of the Police and he would be put behind the bars for any such mistake if repeated in future.
