Punjab govt schoolchildren demonstrate abacus

Chandigarh: The students of Government Primary School, Tulewala (Patiala), on Tuesday demonstrated Abacus before Punjab Education Minister Om Parkash Soni, who said that the program will be implemented in other schools in a phase-wise manner so that children become able to survive in this competitive world. Soni also appreciated the hard work of the teacher Gurpreet Kaur, under whose guidance the children’s performance was unprecedented.

Employees’ unions assured of redress of their genuine demands soon

Chandigarh: Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Razia Sultana on Tuesday held a series of meetings with the various employees or workers’ unions assuring them to address their all genuine demands soon. Spokesperson said that leaders of Water Supply and Sanitation (M) Employees’ Unions, Water Supply and Sanitation Workers’ Union Punjab and Master Motivators held separate meetings with the Ministe who listened to their grievances patiently. She exhorted the leaders to do their duty sincerely and diligently as the Department is responsible to provide clean potable water to the State’s rural inhabitants. She asked them to act proactively and ensure regular supply of clean drinking water to the ruralites.

Haryana police nab three with illicit arms

Chandigarh: Haryana Police in Nuh has arrested three persons with illicit arms including a wanted criminal Iklaas, carrying a reward of `25,000 on his head. Spokesperson said that arrested accused had been identified as Iklaas and his two accomplices Shahzad and Khalli, all resident of Salaheri in Nuh district. Police has also recovered a country made pistol, a live cartridge and two iron rods from them. As many as 11 cases under various sections were registered against Iklaas.

Housekeeping training starts under PMKVY

Chandigarh: Skill Development Training in Housekeeping was launched on Tuesday as a part of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (under the aegis of Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports), Sector-12, Chandigarh, which was inaugurated by CITCO managing director Jitendar Yadav. RGNIYD, Regional Centre, coordinator Dr Kottu Shekhar said that 100 youth will be trained in this trade in next eight months at RGNIYD. Yadav said that CITCO will further provide certification and placement to the beneficiaries.
