Social Welfare Minister orders audit of all city shelter homes

Few days after the cases of sexual abuse reported from shelter homes in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh,  Delhi Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam on Tuesday ordered an audit of all shelter homes in the city.

Gautam, in an order to the Secretary, Social Welfare, gave directions for carrying out audits of all shelter homes -- government as well as private -- across the city.

“The incidents of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are sad and shocking. I want to ensure no such thing happens in Delhi,” said Gautam.

“It is the responsibility of the government to provide security, safety and justice to the citizens,” he said.
