Telangana BJP has demanded the government to publish the National Citizen Register (NCR) for Hyderabad and Telangana to identify inflitrators from the neighbouring countries and deport them. “The TRS government should publish a white paper on the number of citizens staying illegally in the capital and start the process of deporting them,” said party president K. Laxman on Tuesday.
At a press conference, the BJP leader wanted the government to bring out the NRC similar to the process being undertaken in Assam pointing out that the the household survey taken up four years has all the details so it should not be difficult to make out a list. “The Rohingya settlements in quite a few colonies in the twin cities here is indication of the dangerous trend of infiltration of people from Myanmar and Bangladesh. There are also reports of they having obtained Aadhaar and ration cards to masquerade as full fledged citizens,” he said.
Blaming the Congress Party, Trinamool Congress and other parties of trying to “politicise and communalise” the NRC issue, Mr. Laxman claimed it was not a religious issue at all. The government has to be vigilant considering that Hyderabad has been the “shelter” zone for several terrorists and other extremist organisations for the last three decades as was exposed once again in Monday’s NIA raids in the Old City.
“The city has seen several terrorist acts in the recent past because there are nefarious elements ready to sympathise with their case. The Majlis Party’s attitude abets such activities even while the government and the police refuse to take any action,” he charged.
The BJP leader also recalled the arrest of terrorist leaders like Syed Salahuddin and others including women intercepted here while trying to join the ISIS through Iraq. The arrest of a Bangladeshi Madrasa teacher for trying to ‘brainwash’ youth towards fundamentalism was also a pointer to the state of things in the capital, he added.
