Sensex rises 200 points again, closes in on 38,000-mark

NEW DELHI: Equity markets saw yet another day of bull run as Sensex and Nifty gained more than half a per cent each on Wednesday.

30-share BSE Sensex rose 221.76 points to close at closing high of 37,887.56 while the broader 50-share NSE Nifty gained 60.55 points to finish trading at 11,450.

In intra-day trade, Sensex hit the all-time high of 37,931.42.

Wednesday's rally came on back of bank stocks with the Nifty PSU Bank sub-index gaining almost a per cent during the day. Pharma and auto sub-indices saw some dip on other hand.

Markets which have been buoyant in the last couple of weeks, but saw some correction in the last two sessions.

ONGC, Reliance, SBI and ICICI Bank gained the most in Wednesday's trading.
