More than 565 enthusiasts to partake in ‘Vikas Daud’ on Aug 9

Nagpur: Gadchiroli police has organized ‘Vikas Daud’ or run for development on the occasion of United Nation’s World's Indigenous Peoples’ Day on August 9. More than 565 participants are set to run on the occasion.
The run, organized and named with an objective to boost development in the tribal district, would kick-start at 8am from Indira Chowk and terminate at gate of Motor Transport section of the Gadchiroli police headquarters taking a detour through some of the key localities of the town including ITI Chowk and MIDC areas. The run would be organized amid tight security to ensure no untoward incidents took place.

The participants, five men and equal numbers of women, from across the district were selected by the panels at every police posts, armed out posts and so on following their past records, trial runs and such activities. Around 535 participants were selected by the cops before their names were finalized for the run on the D-Day.

Gadchiroli police, under SP Shailesh Balkawade, has also made an appeal before the citizens of the districts to participate in the run to bolster the morale of the runners and also as a symbolic support to the theme of development in the backward district affected by the Maoist violence.
