Red Or Yellow? Take Your Pick Of LaFerraris At Mecum’s Monterey Auction

Of the three hybrid hypercars that captivated our attention a few years ago, only one was (otherwise) naturally aspirated, only one packed a V12, and only one, of course, wore the vaunted Prancing Horse logo. Shame they all sold out long ago. But if you’re still keen on picking one up, and have over $3 million to spare, we have good news.

Mecum Auctions has not one, but two LaFerraris coming up for sale in Monterey later this month: one in red, and one in yellow. And if you place the right bid, either (or both) could be yours.

The red example is very red, with Rosso Corsa bodywork, roof (where most featured contrasting black tops), and even a red interior. It has just 307 miles on it, leaving it in practically new condition. And it’s estimated to be worth $3-3.3 million. The yellow example (with black roof and yellow-piped black interior) is valued even higher at $3.25-3.5 million, and has 419 miles on the clock.

Of course both are mechanically identical, with a 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 coupled to an electric motor and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission sending a combined 950 horsepower (708 kW) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels, yielding a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 2.4 seconds and a top speed in excess of 217 miles per hour (349 km/h). It was clocked lapping Ferrari’s legendary on-site Fiorano test track in just 1:19.7, making it the fastest road-going Ferrari ever made – 1.3 seconds quicker than the F12 TdF, and over five seconds quicker than the Enzo that preceded it in Maranello’s celebrated hypercar series.

These are two of only 499 examples made. So if you’re keen to put one in your garage, the Hyatt Regency will be the place to be, cash in hand, this August 23-25.
