Kohima, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio yesterday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed the calamities faced by Nagaland due to rains and also developmental issues.
In a series of tweets, Rio stated that he called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apprise him of the current crisis faced by Nagaland following incessant rains, which had caused landslides, floods, damaged roads and agricultural lands, leaving thousands helpless across the state.
Rio also said that he has requested the Government of India to expedite the Naga peace process for an early solution.
In another tweet Rio thanked Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh for positively responding to the difficulties being faced by Nagaland and appreciated his commitment to extend all possible assistance.
Rio also met Rajnath Singh in New Delhi today and later called on Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal. He discussed railway development in Nagaland with Goyal and appreciated his concern towards development. Rio thanked the railway minister for his assurance for railway CSR to assist Nagaland towards combating natural calamities due to heavy monsoons.
