CHENNAI: The funeral procession carrying the mortal remains of DMK president M Kaurananidhi will start from Rajaji Hall at 4pm. The body will be buried near Anna memorial on Marina Beach.
The funeral procession will take the Sivanada Road and reach Periyar statue. From there, it will enter the Walajah Road and reach the Anna Memorial.

Party leaders said it might take more than an hour for the procession to reach Marina Beach even though it is only less than 2km from Rajaji Hall.

The Madras high court on Wednesday morning directed the Tamil Nadu government to allot a space on Marina Beach as the last resting place for the five-time chief minister. The state government initially declined the DMK’s request for a Marina burial for Karunanidhi. Following this, the party moved the court and got a favourable order.
