A woman and her accomplice were arrested by the Faridabad Police Crime Branch on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in several abduction and extortion cases. They allegedly threatened to implicate the victims in false rape cases.
Ramesh Kumar Jain, a resident of Hodal in Palwal, had lodged a complaint with the police on November 6, 2017. He said a gang had allegedly abducted him on October 16, 2017, and demanded ₹1 crore, threatening to implicate him in a false rape case, the police said.
The probe was later transferred to the Faridabad Police and the case was handed over to Crime Branch, DLF.
During investigation, Crime Branch, DLF, Inspector Naveen Kumar arrested Rambir, a Palwal resident, and his accomplice Heena (name changed), who stays in Gurugram’s Ashok Vihar part-III.

The accused allegedly kept Mr. Jain hostage at a house in Noida Sector 92 and let him go after payment of ₹16 lakh.
The other members of the gang — Ashfaq, Dinesh, Salim, Gopal, Ram Dhan and a woman — are absconding.
In another case, the gang allegedly took Dev alias Abhishek hostage on November 20, 2017, and demanded ₹12 lakh from his release. The accused used the same modus operandi. However, the victim was freed after payment of ₹3 lakh.
In a similar case, the gang allegedly extorted ₹6.60 lakh from Gayalal Master, a resident of Kondal village in Palwal, on November 10, 2017. The accused had demanded ₹20 lakh from him.
