India vs England: Dropped catch saved Virat Kohli at Edgbaston - James Anderson

The rivalry between Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli and England fast bowler James Anderson has been the most prominent side story in the ongoing Test series between the two sides.

Kohli dominated proceedings in the first Test at Edgbaston with a dominant 149, but Anderson believes that he could have dismissed the right –hander if not for misses and dropped catches by the England fielders.

“I guess that’s top-of-the-range stuff and I certainly loved the battle with him (Virat Kohli) at Edgbaston. I felt good bowling to Virat and my plans worked well. I might have dismissed him a few times with some plays and misses plus a dropped catch,” Anderson wrote for The Sun.

“But the fact is, I didn’t get him out and he scored a century and a half-century. So I’m not getting carried away! In fact, it makes me even more determined to be on top form in the Second Test at Lord’s,” the 36-year-old bowler added.

During the first Test, Kohli’s only boundary from Anderson’s spell came thanks to a nick which dropped short of Jonny Bairstow. Later, he was able to induce a bigger edge from Kohli but the chance was squandered by Dawid Malan in the second slip.

Virat Kohli was the only top order batsman to fire for India at Edgbaston as they were beaten by 31 runs. The second Test match between India and England will start on Thursday at Lord’s.
