Funeral of Indian student Gujja Naveen Kumar who drowned in a Russian lake last week took place in his hometown, here on Tuesday.
His mortal remains arrived at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad on Tuesday morning. A pall of gloom descended on RB Nagar, the family’s residence in the town, where scores of visitors, relatives and friends gathered for a last glimpse.
Bhongir MLA Pailla Sekhar Reddy called on the grieving family and paid his tributes along with other officials. “He was to return home in six months after completing his MBBS,” his friends said.
Naveen had gone to the Orenburg Medical College, Russia in 2012 for his MBBS. While celebrating his 23rd birthday last week with his friends, he had drowned in a lake in Stavropol. The autopsy report later also revealed that Naveen suffered cardiac arrest.
