Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today expressed profound grief over DMK president M Karunanidhi's death.
In his condolence message, Kumar said that the country has lost a big political personality who always kept democratic values at the top. He was a leading personality of social and economic uplift in Tamil Nadu.
People will always remember his contributions and achievements vis-a-vis uplift of deprived sections of the society and also for maintaining social harmony, Kumar, who is also national president of JD(U), said.
"I had a very close relations with him. His death has caused irreparable loss to the fields of politics and society," Kumar said in an official release.
Kumar had talked to Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi over telephone this morning, it said.
The Bihar CM prayed to almighty to give strength and courage to the relatives, followers and fans to bear the loss.
In his message, Kumar said "Karunanidhi was a popular leader. His death has caused irreparable loss to Indian politics which is diffuclt to be filled."
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi also expressed grief over death of the DMK leader.
