Sharks waste no time in getting out the chequebook

2018-08-07 07:29

Cape Town - The Sharks have wasted no time in signing up a host of schoolboy stars ahead of the 2019 season.

According to the Sharks's official website, no fewer than eight of the players signed will represent this year's SA Schools team in the upcoming Under-18 International Series against Wales, England and France to be played at three venues in the Western Cape later this month.

Of the eight youngsters, four hail from the Cape and include Paarl Boys High duo Evan Roos (No 8) and Emile van Heerden (lock) as well as Paul Roos prop Hanru Jacobs and Boland Landbou fullback Darren Hendricks.

Another player to have signed, Jaden Hendrikse from Glenwood High School, played for SA Schools last year, but was not considered for selection this year due to injury.

The SA Schools squad was selected at the conclusion of this year's Craven Week in Paarl in which, ironically, the unbeaten WP side thrashed their Sharks opponents 47-8 in the unofficial 'final'.

The eight players signed who will represent the SA School team in 2018:

Hanru Jacobs (Paul Roos Gymnasium)

Emile van Heerden (Paarl Boys High)

Lunga Ncube (Glenwood Boys High)

Evan Roos (Paarl Boys High)

Celimpilo Gumede (Durban High School)

Rynhardt Jonker (Glenwood High School)

Darren Hendricks (Boland Landbou)

Lwandile Menze (Durban High School)
