Even as rains continued in different parts of Odisha, the Regional Office of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Tuesday predicted rains and thundershowers in most places in the State over the next 48 hours.

On account of a low pressure system formed over northwest Bay of Bengal and a cyclonic circulation associated with it, the low pressure is likely to become well-marked in the next 24 hours, informed the IMD.

As per the IMD, rain and thunderstorm will occur at most places across the State.

Besides, heavy rainfall alert has also been issued for Mayurbhanj, Baleswar, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda, informed IMD Regional Director HR Biswas.

Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Boudh will also experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on Tuesday, the weather office forecasted.

The IMD has also warned the fishermen not to venture into sea during this period.
