Bombay high court's Nagpur bench on Monday directed civil supplies and consumer protection minister Girish Bapat to pay a fine of Rs10,000 on a plea filed by a senior citizen from Gondia.
The petitioner, Kausalya Neware (60), has accused the minister of entertaining a 'revision petition' against her, despite the fact the issue was out of his ambit. The plea was listed before a single-judge bench comprising Justice Rohit Deo, who also issued notices to other respondents. Before disposing of the plea, he held that the minister had wrongly sent notice to the petitioner's husband when a fair price shop was transferred in her name long time ago.

The court held that the petitioner's husband was subsequently harassed by the notices and also due an order on the shop's closure.
