Yavatmal: The Babhulgaon police have arrested a teacher of an ashram shala after receiving complaints from parents of three girls allegedly sexually exploited by him in school.
According to investigating officer subinspector Sopam Padole of Babhulgaon police station, three complaints were received from parents of three minor adivasi girls studying in Std VI and IX classes of Savitribai Fuley Nivasi Ashram Shala of Babhulgaon. The parents alleged that one of the teachers of the school sexually abused their daughters while in school.
“We have registered an FIR against the accused teacher Vijay Jadhav (31) under IPC and Pocso Act, 2012. We have also registered a criminal offence under Atrocity Act and arrested him on Saturday. He was presented before the court and remanded to magisterial custody,” said Padole.
The school is a residential facility under the management of a local Congress leader, and students from various parts of Yavatmal and Amravati districts get admitted here. The victims are from Yavatmal and Amravati districts, and belong to Fase Pardhi tribe.
Last year too, Babhulgaon police had arrested the headmaster of a zilla parishad primary school on charges of sexual abuse of five minor girls studying in the school over a year.
