Sinclair Broadcast Group is launching CompulseOTT, an over-the-top advertising platform, the company SBGI, +1.52% announced Tuesday. CompulseOTT will offer advertisers 15- or 30-second commercials on platforms such as Roku ROKU, -1.11% , AppleTV AAPL, -0.92% , gaming consoles, Smart TVs and streaming sticks, the company said. Advertisers will be able to buy commercials in one or several designated market areas in one transaction. The new platform will also provide "granular targeting," Sinclair said, allowing advertisers to target beyond basic demographics like age, gender and household income. They will be able to target behavioral characteristics such as "intent to purchase a mid-sized sedan" or "travel enthusiast," Sinclair said. Sinclair shares have gained 31% so far this year, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.36% has gained 7%.
