New Delhi, Senior Congress leader and a close aide of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi RK Dhawan died here on Monday, sources said. He was 81.
A former personal secretary and confidante to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Dhawan, who was a witness to Indira Gandhi assassination in 1984, breathed his last on Monday night at the BL Kapur hospital.
Congress leaders Ashok Gehlot and Randeep Surjewala condoled death of RK Dhawan. Condoling the death of the veteran Congress leader, AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot said, ‘Saddened by the passing away of senior Congress leader n former RajyaSabha MP. RK Dhawan ji… His contribution for Congress party will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family members in this hour of grief. May god give them strength to bear this loss. RIP.’
AICC media incharge Randeep Surjewala also condoled Mr Dhawan’s death. ‘Our homage to veteran Congress leader, RK Dhawan, who breathed his last today. His tireless spirit, immeasurable commitment & untiring dedication to the Congress ideals will always be remembered. RIP.’
The body of Mr Dhawan is being brought to his residence at 141, Golf Link for congressmen to pay tributes.
