CHENNAI: Weathermen have predicted islolated light rain to occur due to the development of thunderclouds on Tuesday evening. The temperature which was in the range of 37-38 degrees Celsius (2-3 degrees above normal) for more than a week, registered a drop on Monday.
The maximum temperature on Monday was 36.4 degrees Celsius. The
met office has forecasted a maximum of 36 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. The city experiences an average maximum temperature of 34.7 degrees Celsius during August, as per IMD data.
Meanwhile the south west
monsoon over western districts of TN fizzled out, with only Valparai (Coimbatore district) recording light rain. The city generally gets rain when the south west monsoon weakens. Since June, Nungambakkam has received 20.6cm rainfall (9 percent above normal) while
Meenambakkam has recorded only 17.6cm (46 percent below normal).
