JSPL declares 2 scholarship programmes

The JSPL Foundation, the CSR Arm of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL), announced two scholarship programmes ‘OP Jindal Star’ and ‘OP Jindal Jewel’ for economically weaker meritorious students from the vicinity area of its operations across the country including Angul, Barbil and Tensa in Odisha.

The programmes, to be launched on 88th birth anniversary of OP Jindal on August 7, aims to promote education in rural areas and provide opportunities to high performing students.

Under the OP Jindal Star, 20 eligible students from each State would be given Rs 12,000 per year and a certificate to pursue education after class 10 on the basis of their mark secured in Class 10. In order to encourage girl students 30 per cent of the scholarships would be awarded to girl students.

While the OP Jindal Jewel is mainly for encouraging meritorious students, belonging to economically weaker sections, to pursue graduation course, including engineering, medical and law. The selection would be based on their mark secured in Class-XII examination and their score in national eligibility tests like JEE, NEET, CLAT and others.

A total 50 students from the country would get Rs 40,000 per year as financial support for three to five years, depending upon the course in which they get enrolled and 30 per cent of the scholarship would be given to girl students.

However, renewal of the scholarship each year would be done on the basis of annual performance of the students.

Foundation Co-chairperson Shallu Jindal said the scholarships are the best tribute to our revered founder OP Jindal on his 88th birthday.
