MOHALI: Entering a house stealthily while presuming it to be that of his
girlfriend left a 25-year-old man battered and bruised in Derabassi on Friendship Day on August 5.
The owner caught the man tiptoeing into his house without ringing the doorbell. When he questioned him about his presence, the youth told him he had come to meet his girlfriend living nearby. Soon, neighbours gathered at the spot. All of them started thrashing the man even as he pleaded for mercy, acknowledging his mistake of entering the
wrong house.
The residents called the cops and handed over the man to them.
Police said the youth was visiting his girlfriend’s house for the first time. She had asked him to meet her on Friendship Day, explaining the way over phone. However, the man got the directions wrong.
The man was taken to a police station and released after he apologised.
Investigation officer Narinder Kumar said, “He was going to the house of his girlfriend for the first time. After he was handed over to us by local residents, he felt sorry about his act and we released him.”
