Arunachal student body pushes back 1,400 ‘illegal migrants’, ‘detains’ 1,700

Having announced its ‘clean-up’ drive to evict “illegal migrants” from the state from August 17, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (Aapsu) has set up checkposts at entry and exit points of the state.

The student body’s border areas unit claimed to have driven out 1400 “illegal migrants” and ‘detained’ 1,700 “infiltrators” from two checkposts over the past three days. “We had to launch the drive after publication of the NRC in Assam, which led to the apprehension that illegal migrants may now enter our state,” the All Arunachal Pradesh Border Students’ Union’s PR secretary said.
