A baby boy was abandoned at St. Anns Hospital (American Hospital) here on Monday. The infant is in healthy condition.
On receiving information, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) staff Sarada and Prema Latha, of the Women Development and Child Welfare Department (WD&CW) rescued the baby, said WD&CW Krishna district Project Director K. Krishna Kumari.
According to the hospital management, two men and two women, who came in a car in the afternoon, allegedly left the baby and a feeding bottle near the canteen in the hospital and escaped.
On hearing the cries of the infant, canteen workers alerted the staff, who informed the WD&CW officials.
“According to the hospital management, unidentified persons, including two women, abandoned the baby boy on the hospital premises. The baby will be kept under observation for a couple of days and later will be shifted the infant to Government-run Sishu Gruha”, District Child protection Officer Ch. Vijay Kumar.
Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Member Malleswara Rao recorded the statement of the hospital staff. The Suryaraopet police registered a case and took up investigation.
