Shivraj approves Micro Lift Irrigation Projects

An administrative approval has been granted to Badnawar and Khalwa Micro Lift Irrigation Projects in a meeting of Narmada Control Board held under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The Badnawar Lift Micro Irrigation Project costing Rs 1,520.92 crore will facilitate irrigation on 50,000 hectare area of Dhar District, whereas the Khalwa Micro Lift Irrigation Project costing Rs 1,103.28 crore will provide irrigation facility on 50,000 hectare area of Khandwa district.

Chouhan has instructed that irrigation projects should be completed within time limit and constant monitoring of under construction irrigation projects should be carried out. It was informed in the meeting that Narmada water will be lifted near village Nimbola of Dhar district under the scheme. Irrigation facility will be provided to total of 125 villages including 101 of Badnawar tehsil and 24 of Dhar tehsil by Badnawar Micro Lift Irrigation project. The irrigation facility will be provided to farmers by the Pressurized Micro Irrigation System under the scheme.

Further, it was informed in the meeting that irrigation facility will be provided to 147 villages of Khalwa tahsil of Khandwa district by the Khalwa Micro Lift Irrigation project. Water will be lifted from the reservoir of Indira Sagar project under the scheme. Farmers will be facilitated with irrigation by the Pressurized Micro Irrigation System under the scheme. Besides, approval has been given in the meeting for construction of ghat on the right bank of Narmada river at village Kusumkheda of Sehore district.

Minister for Finance Jayant Malayya, Minister for Water Resources Narottam Mishra, Minister for Energy Paras Jain, Minister of State for Narmada Valley Development Lalsingh Arya, Chairman of Narmada Valley Development Authority Rakesh Sahni, Chief Secretary BP Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Narmada Valley Development Rajnish Vaish, Principal Secretary Finance Anurag Jain, Principal Secretary Energy ICP Kesri, Principal Secretary Public Works Mohammad Suleman and Principal Secretary to CM SK Mishra were also present in the meeting.
