Nagpur: Music & Me Events made the weekend enjoyable for those present at Scientific Society Hall on Sunday when its concert titled ‘Aashaon Ke Saawan Mein’ relived the golden era of legendary duo Mohammad Rafi and Kishore Kumar. The programme was held to mark Rafi’s death anniversary and Kishore’s birth anniversary.
The event, compèred by Shweta Shelgaonkar, was a treat to the ears as amateur as well as established singers of the city rendered soulful songs of the two legends.
Medley of songs ‘Tum jo mil gaye ho’, ‘Tere bina zindagi se’, ‘Likhe jo khat tujhe’ and ‘Tum bin jaun kahan’ gave the concert a heart-warming kickstart. Songs ‘Tere mere sapne’, ‘Jeevan ke safar mein rahi’, ‘Ehsaan tera hoga mujh par’ and ‘Chal ud ja rey panchhi’ perfectly recreated the bygone era of music.
Solo songs ‘Ghoongaru ki tarah’, ‘Roop tera mastana’, ‘Firkiwali’, ‘Rukh se zara naqab’, ‘O duniya ke rakhwale’, ‘Mast baharon ka main aashiq’ and ‘Aey nargis-e-mastana bas itni shikayat hai’ too caught the attention of the gathering.
Duets ‘Kuchh kehta hai yeh sawan’, ‘Patta patta boota boota’, Aashaon ke sawan mein’, ‘Aaj rapat jayein toh humein na uthaiyyo’, ‘Achha ji main haari chalo maan jao na’, ‘Dil tera deewana hai sanam’ and ‘Bheegi bheegi raaton mein’ were a few songs which led to vigorous foot tapping and clapping.
Singers Anjali Hasan and Avinash Satpute built a rapport with the audience while singing ‘Aap yahan aaye kis liye’.
The artistes and singers complemented each other beautifully and presented some of the blockbuster hits of the two legendary singers. Jyotiraman Iyer, Avinash Satpute, Nandu Andhare, Anjali Thakre, Saajid Qureshi, Isbabul Hasan, B Shrikant and Ruchi Pinjarkar lent their trained voices to the music and made the evening an enjoyable affair.
