NOIDA: The UP information commission has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the personnel department of Noida Authority for denying information through RTI. Social activist Captain (retd) Vikas Gupta had filed several RTIs in February 2016 to acquire details on recruitment and promotion policy of 2005, but did not get reply. This prompted him to complain to the commission.
The registrar of commission issued four separate letters directing collection of fine from the then public information officer and the personnel department of Noida Authority. Each of the four letters states that the fine would amount Rs 250 per day upto Rs 25,000 for denying information to the applicant.

Rajesh Kumar Singh, OSD, Noida Authority, said: “The concerned public information officer would file a review petition before the commission.”
