Indore: Lokayukta police on Monday raided residences of a beldaar (a labourer) working at Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) and unearthed assets worth crores of rupees, which were found disproportionate to his known sources of income.

“Beldaar Aslam Khan’s monthly salary is about Rs 18,000 but his properties were found to be worth several crores of rupees,” Lokayukta deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Pravin Singh Baghel said. Acting on complaints, Lokayukta carried out raid in Ashoka Colony in Manikbagh area and found proofs including documents, which show he owns unaccounted assets.

During the raid, the sleuths discovered that he and his family members own immovable properties at several places in Indore, Ratlam and Dewas. The raids disclosed that Khan and his brother own four houses in Ashoka Colony, including one valued at Rs 1 crore, about eight plots in Indore, Dewas and Mhow. “In total, documents pertaining to 21 immovable properties were found,” Baghel said. Lokayukta sleuths also found Rs 25 lakh in cash, five expensive cars, gold silver ornaments that weigh 2 kilograms and expensive watches.
