Train services in Howrah Bardhhaman Up main line section of Eastern Railway's Howrah Division were disrupted for four hours from 8.54 am today owing to snapping of overhead wire at Belur station, an ER official said.
Passengers during morning peak hours were inconvenienced due to the disruption that caused cancellation of 16 pairs of EMU locals and delay of few other local trains en route.
Mail/express train movements were, however, not hampered since the services were maintained through reversible line, the spokesman said.
Normal train services in the Up main line were restored at 1.00 pm, he said.
The overhead wire was snapped when the 37315 Howrah Tarakeswar EMU local started from Belur station.
A tower van was despatched and restoration work was initiated on war footing for maintaining normal train services, he said.
