Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC) has made a plan for setting up a flyover from Mango Chowk to Dimna Road in the densely-populated area.

The civic body in co-operation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) has today tabled the plan at a meeting of stakeholders for the Rs 520 crore integrated sewerage, drainage and road beautification project to be funded by the ADB. The plan has been chalked out to ease traffic congestion at Mango.

The meeting was attended by state food and civil supply minister Saryu Roy and East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar and MNAC special officer, Rajendra Prasad Gupta, beside other officials of the civic body who are all stakeholders for the ambitious project.

The MNAC special officer said that the main objective behind today's meeting was to discuss certain points in drainage system in the detail project report (DPR) of the proposed  integrated sewerage, drainage and road beautification project.

The project will have three sewage treatment plant proposed near MGM, Kapali and Baliguma and integrated pumping stations. The project will also strengthen and widen a total of 130 km of  17 roads across Mango  and develop six parking bays near major roundabouts and traffic junctions.

At present there are no dedicated parking bays anywhere in Mango leading to traffic congestions especially on Old Purulia Road, New Purulia Road and portions of Dimna Road.
