The body of an unidentified man, around 35- years- old, with five to six wounds from a sharp weapon was found near a canal in Rahaka village, police said on Monday.

Station house officer of Sadar Sohna police station, Harinder Singh said according to preliminary investigation, the man was murdered somewhere else and the body was dumped near the canal.

“There are no signs of a murder at the spot from where we found the body,” he said.

The body found around 6.30am on Sunday by farmers who were going to their fields.

An FIR has been registered under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Singh said the deceased could be a security guard as he had three big keys in his pocket and three to four smaller keys.

“The man looks around 35 years old and he was wearing a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. He had five to six injuries, including on his chest, inflicted with a sharp weapon,” the SHO said.

He said the body must have been dumped on Thursday night. There are no houses near the stretch of the canal from where the body was found.

“The body had not decomposed when we found it and it seemed that the man was murdered six to seven hours before the body was found,” he said.

Singh said that post-mortem examination was not done as they have to wait for 72 hours in case if an unidentified body is found.

“We are trying to identify the body. We have shown photos to villagers and have sent messages to nearby police stations and to our counterparts in Faridabad,” the police officer said.
