The Congress party will declare the complete list of candidates for upcoming Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh by mid-September this year.

This was informed by Chhattisgarh In-charge of All India Congress Committee (AICC), P.L. Punia while interacting with the media persons here on Monday.

Punia further informed that CGPCC had been asked to submit the panel of names of the contenders of all the 90 Assembly seats by August end.

Regarding allotment of tickets to Mayors, Punia said, till now, the party has not taken any decision regarding it and soon they will formulate a policy about it.

Notably, in the previous polls, the party had delayed in declaring the list of candidates and announcement was made after the poll dates were announced.

Because of that delay, the candidates did not get sufficient time for campaigning in their respective Assembly segments and thus a desired result was not achieved and the party failed to form the Government.

Keeping in view the experience in previous elections, this time, the party has decided to declare candidates well before the announcement of poll dates by Election Commission of India.

AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi had directed to declare names of candidates who will be offered tickets by August 15.

Candidates have been applying for ticket at respective Block Congress Office of their respective Assembly segments till August 7. Thereafter, the respective District Congress Committee will scrutinise the applications and will forward it to CGPCC.

The CGPCC thereafter will decide over the candidature and if names do not get finalized in any case, it will hand over the names of panel of candidates to AICC from where the final list would be declared by mid September.
