Criminal with Rs 25k bounty on head held

The Delhi Police have arrested 20-year-old man carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head  for his alleged involvement in attempt to murder cases. His associate has also been arrested.  

Wanted criminal Sumit, involved in three cases of attempts to murder and one Arms Act case under him belongs to Beri Bagh, Pooth Khurd, Rohini District. His associate Harsh alias Deepak Thakran was also arrested. The accused was wanted since October last year.

“On 13 October 2017, complainant Nishant was sitting at the main gate of his house when the accused and his associates fired at him. Sumit managed to evade arrest while his associates, Hemant and CCL were arrested. The second incident occurred on 22 October same year when he fired on one Sumit. On 25 July this year, he again fired at one Dushyant,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini District) Rajneesh Gupta stated.

Subsequently, sources were deployed to trace the absconding accused. On 4 August, a team under the supervision of ACP Bawana, Rohini District received specific information after which the team laid a trap near Beri Bagh, Pooth Khurd.

The accused was apprehended and on interrogation he disclosed his associate Harsh who was also apprehended, DCP said.

The police recovered a country made pistol and three live cartridges from the accused. A case under Section 25 Arms Act has also been registered at Bawana Police Station, he added.
