Police resorted to a mild lathicharge on the public when they damaged a bus and later attempted to set it on fire at Vadamangalam near Villianur near here late on Sunday night.

The Public was angered over the bus hitting a motorbike where a 20-year-old youth was killed. Police said the deceased Prabhu riding the motorbike was hit by the TNSTC bus.  

The injured Prabhu was rushed to the GH here where he succumbed. It may be noted that two persons were killed in the same spot a few months back.  

Villianur police registered a case. Meanwhile, the windscreens of four buses were broken when youths hiding in darkness pelted stones on them.
