Coimbatore: The twenty-three Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims from Tamil Nadu, who were stranded in Simikot—the administrative headquarters of Humla district in the mountainous region of northwestern Nepal—due to bad weather, have reached Nepal Kunj by flight and are likely to reach their homes by Wednesday. The group, consisting of 12 people from Tirupur and 11 from other districts, had left for the pilgrimage from the Vallalar Trust in Tirupur on July 23. They were supposed to fly out of Simikot on August 2. “However, due to bad weather, there were no flights out of Simikot,” said an official from the trust. The pilgrims then got in touch with the Indian government for help. However, on Tuesday, the pilgrims managed to take a flight out of Simikot and reach Nepal Kunj, district administration officials said. “They will take a flight to Kathmandu and from Kathmandu to New Delhi and New Delhi to Coimbatore. We expect them to reach by Wednesday afternoon,” the official from the trust said.TNN
