The Jat leaders will hold a “Bhaichara sammelan” on August 12 in Rohtak’s Jassia, where the strategy to begin fresh agitation for reservation and other demands would be chalked out.

To muster support from other communities, All India Jat Aarkashan Sanghrash Samiti (AIJASS) had begun “Bhaichara sammelan” on June 28 in the state and it would culminate at Jassia village on August 12.

Yashpal Malik, the president of All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS), which is spearheading the Jat agitation in Haryana has threatened that the community will boycott the events of Chief Minister, his cabinet and BJP MLAs from August 15 onwards, if their demands are not fulfilled.

“We will chalk out strategy for a fresh agitation on August 12. If our demands are not met by August 16, the Jats will intensify their agitation over their long-pending demands,” he said.

The AIJASS has also announced to hold campaigning and meetings against the BJP in the poll-bound states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The Jat leaders had recently expressed strong displeasure over Haryana Government’s stand on not withdrawing cases against members of the Jat community languishing in jails related to the February 2016 violence and had announced to renew its agitation.

The community has been demanding reservation in  government jobs and educational institutions, general amnesty for those booked during the February 2016 Jat quota violence, reconsideration of criminal cases lodged against Jat agitators since 2010 and permanent jobs to next-of-kin of those killed and those maimed during the 2016 Jat agitation in Haryana.

The agitation had left 31 people dead, wounded more than 200, destroyed property worth hundreds of crores of rupees bringing Haryana and adjoining areas to a halt for more than 10 days.

Reacting to the call of fresh agitation by Jats, Haryana Minister of State for Cooperation Manish Kumar Grover on Monday said the people of Haryana are united, and no one can break them. If anyone made an attempt, they would give him a befitting reply, he added.
