Actor Rana Daggubati has started prepping for his upcoming film—a biopic on Telugu actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR)—in which he will play Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

For the same, he recently met the Andhra chief minister and took to Twitter to share his excitement.

Along with a picture with him, the ‘Baahubali’ star wrote, “What an honour it is to play the role of the Honourable ChiefMinister of Andhra Pradesh Mr.N.ChandraBabuNaidu @ncbn in the #NTR biopic. Thank you sir for giving us your valuable time.”

After months of speculation, earlier last week, the 33-year-old confirmed being part of the project on social media. He had posted, “Coming together to tell you a story of an incredible human phenomenon called ‘N.T.RamaRao’”.

Speaking about the film to Mumbai Mirror, Rana had earlier said that he was happy that director Krish would be at the helm of affairs. “Both of us are huge NTR fans. His life journey is an important story as he was our first face and voice and struck a chord with every Telugu speaking person across the world.”

Rana, who has never played a living person in his career, said that he was excited about the prospect. “For 25 years, I’ve seen Mr Naidu reign as a politician. He has had a great influence on our people and society.” He further said that while he has no intentions of copying Naidu, they were working on the archival images and videos from the days when Naidu was a student leader and his early days in politics to the beginning of the Telugu Desam Party.

The film also stars Bollywood actor Vidya Balan and Bengali actor Jisshu, along with N Balakrishna, Vishnu Induri and Sai Korrapati.
