Nagpur: Maharashtra government informed the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court that it had stopped appointments of teachers through its newly launched portal Pavitra till September 1. The reply came while hearing a plea by Stree Shikshan Prasarak Mandal and others contending that the entire process was faulty. The hearing on plea was adjourned till August 30 after the government sought time to engage senior counsel Ram Apte from Mumbai.
The statement regarding stopping the appointment process was made by deputy director of education in city, who was present during the hearing. In last hearing, the HC had asked government to take instructions and make a statement on when the appointments are likely to be initiated. The portal was launched by education minister Vinod Tawde in Nagpur on July 6 to ensure transparency in process of recruitment.
