KOLKATA:
Presidency University students continued with their sit-in on Tuesday over delay in the renovation work of
Eden Hindu Hospital despite vice-chancellor Anuradha Lohia urging them the previous day to withdraw their agitation and return to their temporary accommodation in New Town.
The students slept in the first floor corridor of the administration building on Monday night. Their pillows and bedding were still kept near the VC’s office on Tuesday afternoon. The students have been protesting since Friday afternoon demanding that they be allowed to move into the unfinished Hindu Hostel. The hostel has been shut for renovation since July 2015.
“We have nowhere to go which is why we are staying here. The university authorities gave us several deadlines but they have missed all of them. It is becoming difficult for us to stay in such a remote place and travel to college every day,” said Sayan Banerjee, a student of the university.
