HYDERABAD: Automobile manufacturing in
Telangana is all set to shift into high gear with the 107-year-old Italian
superbike maker
Benelli revving up to make India's youngest state its manufacturing base.
Come October this year, Benelli's first 'Assembled in Telangana' bike will roll out of a 3-acre, 10,000-bikes per annum CKD (completely knocked down) assembly plant at
Medchal on Hyderabad's outskirts, as part of phase-1 of its India manufacturing drive. The unit is being set up in partnership with Adishwar Auto Ride India-Mahavir Group.
Once this capacity is exhausted, which is expected to happen over the next year or so, Benelli will kick off the second phase of its India manufacturing drive with a greenfield facility spread over 20 acres at a yet to be identified site near Hyderabad in partnership with Mahavir Group.
