Expressing the need to replace older politicians with new faces, Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai, who is also the president of Goa Forward Party, demanded that a retirement age be fixed for politicians to pave the way for entry of young generation.

Speaking during the inauguration of the party’s office at Ponda, Sardesai, without referring to anyone, said that there are many politicians in the state who are overage and need to be replaced with young faces.

Along with Sardesai, Rajesh Verenkar, the face of the party in Ponda, and two ministers from the party Jayesh Salgaonkar and Vinod Palyekar were also present at the inauguration. Goa Forward Party’s general secretary Prashant Naik, Mohandas Gaonkar, Durgadas Kamat, Bethoda sarpanch Sushant Naik, Curti-Khandepar sarpanch Satan Fernandes and others were also present on the dais.

“Though the office is in Ponda constituency its door will be open for people from entire Ponda taluka,” Sardesai announced. He said that the Goa Forward Party will not be limited to only a certain section of people but it has a goal to take everybody forward irrespective of their caste, creed and religion.

Sardesai urged people of Ponda to test Goa Forward first and then elect their candidates adding, “We are a party which keeps its promises. We are here to deliver and that is why we have entered Ponda at an early state.”

Taking a dig at the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, Sardesai said that the party which claims to be oldest regional party in the state has failed to bring in reforms after Bahusaheb Bandodkar and has been limited to family raj politics.

Sardesai also assured people of Ponda about chalking out a master plan for development and that he would implement it within three years time if given a chance.

Rajesh Verenkar, who is almost certain to be declared as Ponda candidate of the party, said that national parties are unable to understand the issues people face and so there is need of a regional party lie GFP. He said, “Since beginning Goa Forward has emerged as powerful party in the state and in coming days we are sure that out strength will grow to 30 MLAs from present 3 in the state.”

RDA Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar and WRD Minister Vinod Palyekar too addressed the gathering and assured to visit Ponda office at least once a month to hear people’s
grievances.
