Haryana Director-General of Police BS Sandhu on Sunday urged the people to take a pledge to plant trees and add more to the greenery of the state and the country.

Every person should plant atleast one sapling in their life to make the environment green and clean, said Sandhu while speaking in a plantation programme organized by the police administration in Police Line, Kurukshetra. He said that Chief Minster Manohar Lal himself launched a 'Paudhagiri' campaign aimed at increasing the green cover in the state.

Emphasizing the need to make the young generation an important part of this campaign to ensure pollution-free environment, Sandhu said that youth can play an important role in environment conversation and generating awareness for protection of trees for future generation.

It is necessary to plant more and more saplings to prevent the increasing temperature of the earth and to maintain the balance of nature. Young generation can play an important role in realizing the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Clean India-Green India", he added.

The DGP said that efforts were being made by the police administration to make the plantation campaign a great success. Apart from this, the work of planting saplings is also being carried out with the help of school students associated with the police, he said.

While distributing saplings among children of the police personnel, Sandhu said that the NGOs are also supplementing the efforts of the Police and the Government.

Earlier, Sandhu also inaugurated ‘Raahgiri programme’ near Dronacharya Stadium in Kurukshetra.  He also honored the artists of Raahgiri by giving each of them a sapling.
