VARANASI: While water level of the Ganga was showing a receding trend right from Allahabad to Varanasi, the river continued to swell in Ghazipur and
Ballia on Sunday.
Despite its rising trend in Ghazipur and Ballia, the river was flowing below the danger marks at both the places.
According to the flood bulletin of Central Water Commissions' middle Ganga division office, the river was receding at Allahabad, Sitamadhi,
Mirzapur and Varanasi. In last 24 hours the water level went down up to 0.21mt at Mirzapur and 0.05mt at Varanasi, while Ghazipur and Ballia recorded an increase of 0.17mt and 0.23mt respectively during this period.
The river was flowing at the mark of 70.8mt in Mirzapur, 66.15mt in Varanasi, 59.9mt in Ghazipur and 56.42mt in Ballia.
